Statement from Digital Music Europe (DME) following the publication of the IFPI’s Global Music Report 2019

Music industry report confirms streaming’s central role in driving market growth

“We are very proud that streaming has led the music market to its fourth consecutive year of growth (9.7%) in 2018. Thanks to our constant innovation and investment in discovery and user engagement, streaming grew a staggering 34% last year and maintained its key role as the single largest revenue source (46.8%) for the music industry.

Looking ahead, we will continue to promote Europe’s strong cultural diversity and drive innovation in the market. We look to the EU to ensure an open and competitive platform environment that will enable our businesses to grow and succeed, to the benefit of European consumers and creators.”

– Olivia Regnier, Chair of Digital Music Europe
